Camps for Curious Minds
Summer 2008
Registration begins at 8:30 am on Monday, March 3, 2008
There is no better place to spend an exciting and enriching summer than with Pacific Science Center! We offer more than 40 different science day camps at Pacific Science Center in Seattle and at Mercer Slough Environmental Education Center in Bellevue (in partnership with Bellevue Parks and Community Services). Our instructors are experienced and enthusiastic. Campers explore topics like robotics, crime solving, engineering, pirates, bugs, spy science, aquatic creatures, wetland environments and more. We have something for everyone!
Camp Staff:
The adult-to-child ratio is 1-to-10, and camp capacity varies for each camp. All camp staff must go through extensive background checks and have their professional references contacted. All have previous experience working with children and are certified in CPR and First Aid. Camp Lead Teachers hold a bachelor's degree (or equal teaching and childcare experience) and have prior experience in the science education field.
Cancellation Policy:
Requests for withdrawal from summer camp must be received at least two weeks before camp starting date. $100 will be retained for full-day camps; $50 will be retained for half-day camps. There are no refunds within two weeks of camp starting date.
Transfers: NEW!
There will be a $20 processing fee per camp for transfers between sessions. This does not apply to transfers made available through openings in our camp waiting lists.
Grade Requirements:
Our camps are designed to be grade specific, catering to a camper's academic, social and motor skills levels. A child will be able to enter a grade group only if he/she is entering that grade in the fall of 2008.
Lunch Options at our Seattle location for Grades 2-8:
(Not available at the Mercer Slough camps).
Lunch options are available to full-day campers at our Seattle location.
Weekly menu:
Monday-Corndog Minis, apple, pretzels, water
Tuesday-Chicken Nuggets, applesauce, animal crackers, water
Wednesday-Hotdog, potato chips, yogurt, water
Thursday-Pizza, carrot sticks, cookie, water
Friday-Cheeseburger, orange, brownie, water
Alternative daily option-Turkey sandwich on wheat bread, lettuce, (mayo & mustard on side), peaches, potato chips, water
NO SUBSTITUTIONS AVAILABLE. If your child has dietary restrictions, including food allergies, DO NOT order lunch for your child!
Cost: $30/5-day week $24/4-day week (Not available by the day)
